Monochrome Blog
A social blogging platform focusing on high information density, security and design. The UI completely avoids standard generic layouts, going for an antique, minimalistic look.
Overview
I built Monochrome Blog because I was bored of seeing the same generic layout on every modern reading platform. I wanted something for long-form writers and readers, like myself, that felt like reading a high-end, antique publication. The whole design rejects modern trends in favor of good information density, no stupid ads, and elegant typography.
Under the hood, it's a React app hooked up to a Express.js backend. I wanted it to be secure without being annoying, so I wired up Google OAuth for quick logins and MongoDB to handle the content. The end result is a reading environment that feels incredibly fast and looks decent in my opinion.
